Sheritta "Love" Harris (drummer, artist, musician, engineer) started playing drums and percussion at Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High under Mr. Charles Funn. She continued studying at the University of the District of Columbia 2004-2006 under the late Calvin Jones and Allyn Johnson. She is currently performing with The Charles Funn Big Band, New World Outreach Jazz Orchestra Big Band, her own band, The Storage Unit Collective, Nu Band Featuring Tim Obasi, Joe Keys and The Late Bloomer Band, and several small ensembles in the DMV. Her performance history also includes playing at Baltimore’s Jazzway 6004, An die Musik in Baltimore, Twins Jazz in DC, at the 2019 Baltimore Jazz Alliance Jazz Festival, The Love Groove Festival, Keystone Korner, and several venues in Baltimore.
Sheritta has done workshops with Shure Microphones, Towson University, Carver High School, and multiple programs in the DMV area. She has engineered recording sessions for big bands and independent artists. Her community outreach includes hosting a monthly free show for the arts district sponsored by Black Men's Exchange. The Vibe Check is an open mic Jam session that is family friendly with a laid-back atmosphere. Sheritta’s artistry with vocal performance developed soon after the pandemic. Creating an album and composing music became more than a passion; it became a part of life. With inspiration from her daughter and encouragement from her grandmother, Sheritta continues to press forward in creation and business.
